    Fabulous

A very comfortable homely hotel which makes a nice change from modern glass and chrome establishments. Very conveniently located in the town, it removes the necessity to rely on the car.

The bathroom could do with an update. The shower had seen better days and needed replacement.

    Fabulous

service was excellant, enjoyed our stay and would certainly return, old world charm, a little tired but cosy, friendly and clean.

    Very good

Good Location in the town centre, therefore avoiding the need to use car as everything within walking distance. The hotel had a good "oldy world" feel about the place.

    Superb

I was at the Folk Festival and it was a pleasure to return back to the comfort of the Lion after a long day out in the open. The breakfast was another highlight.

In this day and age I'm surprised that there is no sky facility on the television. Most people like to keep up with the news, both general and sport.

    Very good

It has old world charm, central and comfortable

I thought that as many visitors will approach your hotel from the car park, a more attractive entrance (flower tubs) could be placed by the door. The entrance was poor and grubby.

    Very good

Friendly, comfortable, old worldly, just how I like them- not a travelodge

bars were not always manned. air con noise near bedroom

    Very good

The Evening dinner menu was excellent. Food fantastic

We were on the second floor, the noise from above (the creaking floor)was unbearable from 3.30 A.M. to 6.30 A.M. There was the possibility of staying an extra night but under no circumstances were we prepared to put ourselves through this again. Would definitely eat at this hotel but no way would we stay there.

    Exceptional

The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was excellent. The room was kept clean and tidy and there was space for parking our car. The hotel was in a very good location and has a fabulous history.

The floorboards in our room creaked quite loudly but we appreciate it is a very old hotel and this is part of the character.

    Superb

The hotel is very good I have stayed there before

The room was cold and didn't have the heating on very often. I am going again in August and have asked them not to give us the same room - 224

The Hotel had character as you would expect from an old hotel. We enjoyed the hotel and it was certainly very convenient for us.

The staff were O.K. but not very accommodating (e.g. when food is ordered, language/comprehension may be an issue)). The noise from the lift was a little irritating as were the creaky floors (hear every movement made by neighbour).

    Superb

Ambience, friendly staff, nice room, location, on-site parking

Only one point: somethinmg went wrong with our order for a hot breakfast and we had to wait far too long.

    Good

Great location in historic Shrewsbury with bags of history to the building.

(The Ghost made the remote for the tv in our room disapear in the middle of the night!)

    Very good

I found the hotel interesting and cosy. Not too far from the centre and close enough to the countryside. All the staff were extremely helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble.

The hotel was lovely and although the staff were pleasant the service was very slow and breakfast was 'cool' every morning - we enjoyed a very relaxed weekend but were disappointed to discover when checking out that we had been charged £70.50 per couple over the rates displayed because we had booked online and the hotel is not obliged to give all their rates to the website - the manager did refund the difference for one night only -please beware!

The hotel had a function on the Friday and Saturday of our 3 night stay and we were unable to book for dinner in the restaurant

The old beams and decor, the bar and lounge fire is cosy

The room wasn't worth the price, even though it was quite nice, the bed was very small and very uncomfortable,I'm only 5"2 and my feet were hitting the foot board, and there was only just enough room for 2 persons and we are quite slight.one member of staff couldn't do enough for us,she mended our tv,and got us a heater as it was very cold in the room
